At SkillHouse Academy, we know how important it is for young men to grow up confident, capable, and independent — but not every child has someone to show them the ropes. That’s why we created a 6-weekend hands-on program where boys learn essential life skills like car maintenance, home repair, and cooking in a safe, structured environment led by trusted male mentors. Each segment runs over two weekends, with small, guided classes on Saturdays and Sundays. Beyond just learning — students gain real-world experience, problem-solving skills, and mentorship from positive role models who help shape their character and self-reliance.

Our Story
Originally from New York and now based in South Florida, brothers Frank and Dominic founded SkillHouse Academy with a shared mission — to empower the next generation of young men through hands-on learning and mentorship.
Growing up without a consistent father figure, they recognized in adulthood how many essential skills and lessons they had to learn the hard way. SkillHouse Academy was born from that realization — a way to help others bridge the same gap, build confidence, and create a stronger, more capable community through real-world education.

SkillHouse Academy was built on a simple but powerful idea — that every young person deserves the chance to grow up confident, capable, and equipped with the real-world skills they’ll use for life. Founded by brothers Frank and Dominic, who grew up in New York without strong father figures, SkillHouse was born from a shared mission: to create a place where boys and young men could learn hands-on life skills while being guided by positive, trustworthy mentors.

Now based in South Florida, SkillHouse Academy offers a 6-weekend program that blends practical learning with personal growth. Each course is broken into three segments — Car Maintenance, Basic Handyman Skills, and Cooking Fundamentals — with each segment lasting two consecutive weekends. Classes are held in small groups on Saturdays and Sundays, typically lasting 2–3 hours per day, to make it easy for families to fit into their schedules.

This is more than just a skills class — it’s an environment of mentorship, accountability, and empowerment. Our instructors, many of whom are local dads and tradesmen, teach not only how to do things but also why they matter — encouraging discipline, patience, and confidence along the way. Every class combines instruction with hands-on practice, so students don’t just watch — they do.

What Students Learn

Car Maintenance: How to change a tire, check oil and fluids, jumpstart a battery, replace wiper blades and air filters, and handle common roadside issues.

Basic Handyman Skills: How to patch drywall, fix leaky faucets, replace toilet parts, hang shelves, use basic tools, and safely handle small repairs around the home.

Cooking Fundamentals: How to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner basics, safely handle kitchen equipment, understand food prep, and even learn grilling essentials.
